About Us

WHO WE ARE?

It is well known that most Somalis live within the country, while a substantial number also reside in the diaspora across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

Roughly 75% of Somalis in Somalia—and across the wider Somali region—are youth. Many of them are university graduates, while others are still pursuing higher education.

Upon completing their studies, these young people need opportunities that enable them to develop their skills and build sustainable livelihoods.

Globally, Somalis are recognized as entrepreneurial, ambitious, and hardworking—people who excel in business and job creation wherever they live. They are also known for being open-minded and quick to adapt to new societies, often playing meaningful roles in community services, politics, and economic development. Much of this success is rooted in the long-standing Somali cooperative tradition known as Iskaashi.

These characteristics are evident in the influence Somalis have in religious affairs, business, politics, and development in countries around the world.

Iskaashato embodies the philosophy and principles of the traditional Somali cooperative model, whose guiding motto is “Iskaashato ma kufto”—meaning “Those who cooperate will not fall.”

Iskaashato Group is a collective of Somalis, both at home and abroad, united in their commitment to collaborate in rebuilding and advancing their country and communities.
